Static versus Dynamic Websites and the Web Design California Community

Web design firms in California develop a multitude of different websites every day, and are faced with several options in the creative process. Web design must take into effect which type of web page to create before the process can begin. There are two types of web pages involved in web design, and we’ll take a look at them right now.
Typically web pages are classified as static or dynamic. Static pages do not change content and layout with every request unless a human (web master/programmer) manually updates the page.
A static Web page is a Web page that always comprises the same information in response to all download requests from all users. Static Web pages can be contrasted with Dynamic web pages.
Static Web pages display the same information for all users, from all contexts, providing the classical hypertext, where navigation is performed through "static" documents.
Advantages

• Quick and easy to put together, even by someone who doesn't have much experience.
• Ideal for demonstrating how a site will look.
• Cache friendly, one copy can be shown to many people.

Disadvantages

• Difficult to maintain when a site gets large.
• Difficult to keep consistent and up to date.
• Offers little visitor personalization (all would have to be client side).

Dynamic pages adapt their content and/or appearance depending on end-user’s input/interaction or changes in the computing environment (user, time, database modifications, etc.) Content can be changed on the client side (end-user's computer) by using client-side scripting languages (JavaScript, JScript, Actionscript, etc.) to alter DOM elements (DHTML). Dynamic content is often compiled on the server utilizing server-side scripting languages (Coldfusion, ASP, JSP, Perl, PHP, Python, etc.). Both approaches are usually used in complex applications.
With growing specialization within communication design and information technology fields, there is a strong tendency to draw a clear line between web design specifically for web pages and web development for the overall logistics of all web-based services.
